On Monday evening, February 14th, 2005, just past dark, our cat Kittlet came in the house screaming victory, with a male hummer in her mouth. Life stops as I hold the hummer and wail, he is wrapped up in one of my favorite fabrics by a friend, and buried when the rains stop later that week below my Lady Banks Rose, then days of pain turn into weeks. Time proves this was Bandit, who greeted me every morning as I left the house, followed me as I worked in the front yard or the back garden. It is very difficult to try and fit the event into the large scheme of life.

As of March 10th, Mama has not returned as usual, the numerous hummers that fly about the yard are quiet, life is not the same. Mama's son, Mamasan, and I believe her daughter still visit the yard, but rarely so I see them long enough to spend any time with them.
